Phase 6

Food For the World plans to inform people about our services by advertising through the internet, social media, and television. Many possible clients will be able to find out about what our company does through hearing about it on social media and TV. Clients can then go to our website and learn all about what our mission is and how they can help. Before we begin to help others, FFW will need to obtain various pieces of equipment to organize our business and get it started. We will be looking to hire people for various positions, including full-time and part-time hours. Also, there are many different volunteer opportunities that citizens can participate in to help us with our cause. If FFW can accomplish these things, we will be a successful company that is helping to put an end to world hunger.

Phase 5

Our company's client group is very large because so many people are affected by hunger in the world. There are over 200 million people in the world that are undernourished. The majority of these people are located in the Asia and Pacific region and Sub-Saharan Africa, but hunger occurs all over the world. We are aiming to offer a high quality service for a lower price because we will only be receiving money from donations and other companies, not necessarily making a profit off of anything. Our company offers a better service than most others because we give agricultural products to communities so they can start farms and grow their own food efficiently. Also, we pledge to teach communities so they can become self-sufficient and eventually independent of our aid. This allows us to move on to other communities that are affected.

Phase 4

Food For the World will be working in the health and nutrition industry as it tries to put an end to world hunger. To do this, FFW will be putting together food packages to give to communities. These packages will consist of dehydrated rice/soy meal that is highly nutritious. FFW will also be delivering agricultural products to these communities affected by hunger and will teach communities how to become self-sufficient. We will work with corporations and suppliers such as USAID to provide these services. There are other major social enterprises in this industry that are all trying to end hunger in the world, but Food For the World believes they have an approach to this issue that is different from these other organizations and they will be successful because of that.

Phase 3

Food for the World is a company that has the vision of a world without hunger. The business is looking for major companies to sponsor and donate the money needed to make this vision happen. To end hunger in the world, FFW will fundraise, raise awareness about hunger, distribute food and agricultural materials, and teach communities. We will raise awareness through social media and some advertisement and begin to fundraise for the cause. Then we will gather volunteers and workers to start packaging meals and food products to be sent to the communities in need. FFW will also inform communities on how to support themselves through more efficient farming and production of food. If we are successful in doing these things, many communities will be impacted greatly. The amount of people dying from hunger will begin to decrease and hopefully continue to decrease  in the years to come.

Phase 2: Vision, mission, objectives and activities- SE Project

My company's vision is to provide food to everyone in the world and to end hunger. Hunger is a very big issue in many countries around the world and I have created this organization to help end it. Our mission is to provide food and supplies to communities in need and to teach and show them how they can efficiently provide for themselves if they use certain techniques. I came up with this vision for my company because I think that communities with hunger problems first need immediate help and then need to be taught how to be independent of aid from organizations. I think we should first provide food and other supplies to these communities. Then I think we should show them how to grow their own food using new provided agricultural supplies and gradually pull away the aid we give them so they can become self sufficient. Finally we would move on to another community and do the same. I think this is the most efficient way to help the many communities with hunger problems. By doing this my organization can help to end hunger in the world completely.

Social Entrepreneurship Project

Social Entrepreneurship: A social entrepreneur identifies and solves social problems on a large scale and acts as a change agent for society.
I find it interesting that social entrepreneurs are similar to business entrepreneurs in that they act as change agents for society while business entrepreneurs create and change whole industries. My question about social entrepreneurship is what do social entrepreneurs actually do to help society?

Social Entrepreneurs today:
John Wood: Founder of the Room to Read organization that has established thousands of libraries with English and local language books in ten different countries, including Vietnam and India. It also has a focus of helping girls finish basic education by giving financial assistance and tutors. Room to Read started in Nepal where they donated books to children in rural communities. The programs of this organization have benefited over 7.8 million children so far. I could help this entrepreneur and their cause by donating or adopting a project of my own.

Scott Harrison: He is the founder of charity:water, an organization that provides clean drinking water to many different countries by raising money and using it on projects to construct wells to provide the water. They have funded 11,621 water projects in 22 different countries. A way someone could help this cause is to donate to fund water projects or go and help the project get started.

Wendy Kopp: She is the founder of Teach For America, which trains graduating seniors from the most selective colleges to become teachers and puts them into some of the nations worst classrooms. TFA has helped millions of kids in over 34 states and now is going to be made into a global project, Teach for All. Some ways to help this cause are to join the Corps and become a teacher for them, or to donate money.

To become a social entrepreneur, I would create an organization that helps a cause that I am passionate about. First I would research and become an expert on the cause, then I would start fundraising and find a source of money to support my cause. Next I would find other people who also care about this cause and have them join my organization. Finally I would start to work towards ending whatever issue my organization is trying to help.

Technology and Business blog post: 3D Printing

3-D printing sounds very futuristic and complicated, but it is actually just the process of putting down layers of a substance such as plastic until the layers add up to an object. They spray millions of droplets of polymer to build an object layer by layer until they have the finished product. I feel that 3-D printing is an important step towards a new era of more advanced technology. 3-D printing will soon have a large effect on society and even business because more goods will be able to be produced at their point of purchase or even be produced in one's own household. Products will also be more customized to what the consumer wants because it is easier to change the settings of a 3-D printer.
